This belt buckle set was sold again in 2009. We helped out an old customer by offering it for sale on our website, while presenting a rare opportunity for someone to pick up an early engraved NR Hunt set.

The silver has a beautiful patina, which we really like and which gives the buckle set an antique look. It also has some fine marks and scratches from use, which only adds to the charm. This buckle set represents Neil's special skill-set combining bas relief carving and gun-style engraving.

Neil really likes this 4-piece ranger belt buckle set personally, as he has always been fascinated by the hobos, hobo nickels, and the Indian head nickels that they were carved from. The Indian head on the buckle is reminiscent of them. He also has an affinity for the American West and the Dakota prairies in particular, and this set evokes some of this romance.

The Indian head, the buffalo, and the "breast-plate" pattern ("herring-bone") across each keeper are overlaid in heavy 18K Gold, as can be seen in the angled photo. The gold lines on either side of the "breast plates", the gold lines on the buckle, and the arrowhead on the tip are 24K gold line-inlay.
