This sterling silver hand engraved Baja belt buckle set with 18K gold overlay and 24K gold line-inlay was for a customer in Japan. He really liked the "Dakota Day" buckle set from 2004.
Like on the previous buckle set, Neil overlaid the silver scrollwork-sections for a three-dimensional look on the buckle. The thicker buckle-edge that this creates, is completely engraved. The scrolls that "cap off" the gold lines at the top and bottom of the scrollwork on the buckle, and the gold line that continues around the edge on the tip, are interesting design details. The "swoop" of the gold line on the tip really lifts the pheasants and gives the feeling of flight. The keepers and the side of the buckle have checkered areas that are reminiscent of shotguns. The keepers in this version of the buckle set have a more architectural shape than the previous. There is also a small flower engraved on the edge of the buckle, see side view.
