This "Dakota Day" Pheasant belt buckle set in sterling silver with 18K gold overlay and 24K gold line-inlay is the fourth version of the design. It was a gift for Barbara's husband.
This set has a 1" (25mm) opening, so it is ¼" wider than the previous versions, and it has only one pheasant on the tip. However, the rest of the design is very similar. Neil overlaid the silver scrollwork-sections for a three-dimensional look on the buckle. The thicker buckle-edge that this creates, is completely engraved. The scrolls that "cap off" the gold lines at the top and bottom of the scrollwork on the buckle, and the gold line that continues around the edge on the tip, are interesting design details. Neil created "lift" for the pheasant and gave the feeling of flight by the swoop of that gold line on the tip . The keepers of this buckle set also have the checkered areas reminscient of shotguns and a similar architectural shape as the earlier ones.
