This one inch wide buckle set is classic and elegant. It was a custom order, but, maybe since it was a gift, Neil was essentially given complete artistic freedom to make an elegant buckle set in silver and gold, - with a bear. He really enjoys the freedom of this kind of assignment. It gives him a chance to experiment and push the envelope.
The whole set is fabricated in heavy silver and gold. The sides of the keepers are rounded both on the top and on the inside. The gold in the keepers is partially "floating", as it is only attached to the silver on the sides. This mimmicks the filigree around the legs of the bear on the tip. Neil engraved two trout into the top and bottom silver bars on the buckle, adding a touch of playfulness. The design of the fish jumping into the bear's mouth, create horizontal symmetry in the tip, while the scrolls below the bear simulate water breaking over rocks. This buckle set makes for a truly elegant and refined statement on a straight belt.
