Dale fell in love with this buckle design from the photos of the first "Whitetail Buck" buckle set from earlier this year, 2004. He was already a happy customer from a few years ago. Even though Neil used the same design, as always, the two buckle sets are not identical. The checkering is tighter on this set, and the deer on the keeper are reversed. The line-inlay has some differences, as well.

The buckle set is fabricated in solid sterling silver with the checkered edges in 14K gold overlay. The buck and the other deer, and the scrollwork sections are in 18K gold overlay, while the oval behind the buck is 24K gold flush inlay. The gold lines through the checkered sections on the buckle and the keeper, the main vein of the spirals in the scrollwork-sections, the center of the two main branches of the buck's antlers, are all 24K gold line-inlay. On the throat, around the nose, inside the ears, and around the tail, where the color of the deer is whiter, Neil used silver inlay.

The design on the buckle is quite symmetrical, with the line through the checkered area on the top continuing through the antler, and the line on the bottom continuing into the scroll next to it. Another interesting design-detail is that the center line of the scrolls on the left side of the buckle approximate the outline of the gold oval. The keeper has a pronounced architectural shape.

This buckle set is simply exquisite!
