This buckle set was a gift for Bob, who was from our neck of the woods - Northern Minnesota - originally. It is yet another variation on the Fly-Fishing theme.
Neil overlaid the silver scrollwork-sections for a three-dimensional look on the buckle. The thicker buckle-edge that this creates, is completely engraved. He also really played with the gold-lines that make up the fishing-line and the rod this time. The fisherman is 18K yellow gold overlay, while the trout is 18K rose gold. Neil really enjoys the checkering on the buckle and keepers, reminiscent of engraved guns, and has been using this in several sets lately. The "water" in the river is first engraved with a wave-pattern, then darkened, and then touched up with short, bright (not darkened) engraved cuts, leaving the impression of sun on water. The sides of the keepers have several interesting design-details; there is a "window" in the middle with the "river running through it", and the gold line-inlay scrolls cross each other.
