This exquisite buckle for Terry (it's his third) depicts his German Shorthair Pointer "GKs Sugarland". This buckle has a deceptively simple design in classic prairie style. The checkered portions, top and bottom, are a layer behind the main body of the buckle. The pheasants are 18K rose gold, and there is 24K gold inlay in the sky behind the dog, in the lines in the scroll-work and the rays of the sun. The sun itself is platinum raised inlay.

The simple, leafy scroll-work is a case of "less is more". It's hard to do simply and still make it look 3-dimensional. In this case it really brings out the dog and the landscape, as well as the pheasants, while at the same time creating a nice frame.
