Artful Earrings

Neil is always looking for new ways to express his art. He has engraved several one-of-a-kind earrings (see below) in recent months (spring-summer 2011). These have been very well received and he will continue to make them. But he also wants to make some more affordable styles, realizing that not all of his admirers can buy something that's completely handmade and one-of-a-kind.

All of Neil's work is still beautifully hand-finished, and each piece has the master's touch. These pieces are all inspired by art from around the world, and in particular by the beautiful gun-style engraving that Neil admires so much. He is also continually challenging his ability to create art for even smaller canvases.

Jewelry as Wearable Art

In recent months (spring-summer 2011) Neil has been spending time experimenting with making women's jewelry, particularly earrings. He has engraved a number of unique pairs in Shakudo - an ancient Japanese metal alloy of 96% copper and 4% gold often used in decorations on Japanese sword fittings. These exquisite earrings have been very well received, and he will continue making them.

Neil's jewelry is, as always, inspired by art from around the world, but in particular by the beautiful gun-style engraving that he's been enamored with for so long. And he enjoys continuously challenging himself to design art that is confined to a small space. As earrings are usually smaller than belt buckles, he has definitely found a new challenge, and he seems up to it...
